The short answer

Yes, you can run a wedding quiz on Kahoot. Guests join in their phone’s browser with a game PIN, and Kahoot even has wedding templates. Two things catch couples out. The free plan allows 10 players, so most weddings need a Kahoot!+ subscription: from $3 a month for 50 players up to $19 a month for 800, billed yearly. And in a live kahoot everyone answers the same question at the same moment, against a timer, with the answers fixed when you build the quiz, so the two of you can’t really play along.

If you want guests to answer whenever they like during the day, and the two of you to reveal the answers live, a game made for weddings fits better.

Prices and limits from Kahoot’s personal plans page on October 2, 2026, in US dollars before tax. They change, so check before you buy.

When Kahoot is a good choice

  • You already pay for Kahoot!+, or a teacher in the family will host it for you.
  • It’s a small group. A bachelorette or a bridal shower of 10 people plays on the free plan.
  • You want classic trivia. Four answer options about where you met or your first concert, played at one set moment with everyone racing the clock.

Where Kahoot struggles at a wedding

  • Guest count. Ten players free. A 120-guest wedding needs Gold (200 players), and a subscription you remember to cancel afterwards.
  • Everyone at once. The live game needs the whole room looking at the screen and answering before the timer runs out, which is hard over dinner. Kahoot can assign a quiz to play in your own time, but then each guest plays alone.
  • Answers fixed in advance. Every question has its right answer set when you build the quiz. Whoever makes it knows all the answers, and the two of you can’t answer live in front of everyone.
  • Speed wins. In a classic kahoot the fastest right answers score most, which favors the guests glued to their phones. Kahoot’s accuracy mode gives everyone the same time, if you switch it on.

Other wedding trivia apps

Kahoot isn’t the only option. These are the apps couples compare most often, as their own websites described them on October 2, 2026.

  • My Wedding Trivia. Wedding trivia with prop bets, a photo wall, bingo and a shoe game mode. A free test plan for 3 players, then $50 (you build it) or $100 (they build it), one-time, with unlimited guests. From the makers of Trivia Anywhere.
  • Quiz Your Guests. A Team Bride vs Team Groom quiz whose rounds open on a schedule through the day, plus a photo wall, a seat finder and the day’s schedule. Free with no guest limit and their banner; £29 one-off removes it. UK-based.
  • Trivia Anywhere. A general live trivia host with a big-screen leaderboard. Free for 25 players, then $20 a month for 50, $45 for 200 or $89 for 500 players.
  • TriviaMaker. Game-show-style trivia for a big screen, with grids, wheels and buzzers. Free for 20 participants; Premium is $6.99 a month or $19 a year for 50, Premium Plus $39.99 a year for 200 (a limited-time price).
  • The Ultimate Wedding Game. That’s us: a trivia game about the two of you, built on the shoe game. Guests answer on their phones any time during the day, then you answer live with your shoes and the big screen reveals who knows you best. $29 once per wedding, and you can rehearse it for free first.

How to choose

  • Ten people or fewer: Kahoot’s free plan is fine.
  • Guests playing through the day, with a live moment for the two of you: a wedding game. See how the QR code game works.
  • Team rounds spread across the day: Quiz Your Guests.
  • Bets, bingo and photo hunts as well as trivia: My Wedding Trivia.
  • A TV game-show board with buzzers: TriviaMaker.

Moving a Kahoot quiz over

  1. Turn questions into “who” questions. “Where did they meet?” becomes “Who spoke first when they met?” The answer is always one of you.
  2. Add them to your game, or start from our wedding quiz questions and swap in your own.
  3. Put the QR code on the tables or in the program, so guests can answer from the ceremony onwards.
  4. Rehearse once in test mode with a friend or two.
  5. Play the live round after dinner. Ten to fifteen minutes, shoes up.

Questions people ask

Is Kahoot free for a wedding?

Only for very small groups. Kahoot! Go, the free plan, lets 10 participants play a live kahoot. Bigger groups need Kahoot!+: Bronze for 50 players ($3 a month), Silver for 100 ($7), Gold for 200 ($12) or Kahoot! One for 800 ($19), billed yearly before tax, with monthly billing also offered. Checked on Kahoot's site on October 2, 2026.

Do wedding guests need the Kahoot app?

No. Guests can join in their phone’s browser with the game PIN, and they don’t need an account. Only the host needs a Kahoot account.

Can guests answer a Kahoot before the reception?

Kahoot can assign a kahoot for people to play in their own time, with a deadline on most plans. That works, but each guest then plays a solo quiz on their phone. The live game on the big screen asks everyone the same question at the same moment.

What is the best Kahoot alternative for a wedding?

It depends on the moment you want. For guests answering through the day and a live shoe game reveal, use a wedding game like ours. For rounds spread across the day in teams, Quiz Your Guests. For bets, bingo and photo hunts as well as trivia, My Wedding Trivia. For a TV game-show board, TriviaMaker.

How is The Ultimate Wedding Game different from Kahoot?

Guests answer on their phones whenever they like during the day, the right answers come from the two of you live with your shoes, and the big screen shows the guesses and a live leaderboard after every question. It is one payment of $29 per wedding instead of a subscription, and you can rehearse it for free first.
