The short answer

A “how well do you know the couple” quiz asks guests questions about the pair, such as where they met or who takes longer to get ready, and scores who gets the most right. Pick ten to fifteen questions, mix their story with everyday habits, and let the couple reveal the answers. The guest with the most correct answers knows the couple best.

Here are 100 questions in five groups. The first two groups have one true answer you collect from the couple. The last three are “who” questions, so the answer is always one of the two of them.

Who knows the couple best? Guests guess wrong more than you think

At real weddings played with The Ultimate Wedding Game, guests predicted the couple’s answer correctly only 44% of the time, across more than 4,500 guesses, and only about one guest in four did better than a coin flip. Even the people closest to the couple get surprised, which is exactly what makes the reveal fun. More numbers are in the wedding game report, and the questions couples choose most are on the shoe game questions page.

How to run a “who knows the couple best” contest

  1. Pick 10 to 15 questions. Two or three story questions, a handful of habits and personality, one about the future.
  2. Let guests answer early. Put a QR code on the tables or in the program. Guests answer on their phones any time during the day, with no app and no account.
  3. Reveal later, live. After dinner the couple answers each question with the shoe game, and the big screen shows how the room guessed.
  4. Crown the winner. The live leaderboard shows who knows the couple best. Have a small prize ready.

Couples quiz questions: tips for good ones

  • One clear answer. “Who is the better cook?” works; “What do they argue about?” starts an argument.
  • Fair to both sides. Mix questions friends of each partner can answer.
  • Grandparent-safe. Nothing about exes or anything you would not say in a speech.
  • Short enough to read on a phone. One line per question.

Questions people ask

How do you play “how well do you know the couple”?

Collect the couple’s answers ahead of time, then ask guests the same questions on a card or on their phones. Each guest scores a point per correct answer, and the guest with the most points wins the title of who knows the couple best.

How many questions should the quiz have?

Ten to fifteen for a reception, up to twenty for a shower where the quiz is the main event. Open with easy story questions, put the funny habits in the middle and end on one about the future.

Is it better to ask open questions or “who” questions?

Open questions, like where they met, suit a written quiz at a shower. “Who” questions, like who takes longer to get ready, are faster to answer, work on a phone with one tap, and let the couple reveal the answers live.

When should guests answer at a wedding?

Any time they have a quiet moment: after the ceremony, during cocktail hour or between courses. Then the couple reveals the answers later, when the whole room is together.

What prize does the winner get?

Something small and personal: the bottle of wine from the couple’s table, the first slice of cake, or the honor of choosing the next song.
